The 2019 IFSC Climbing World Championships began on August 11, 2019 in Hachioji, Japan as the first event in which Sport Climbing athletes will compete to qualify for the Olympic Games in Tokyo 2020.
With a highly anticipated first finals round, dominant boulder climber Janja Garnbret of Slovenia fought hard as she took the gold medal to retain her World Championship title in bouldering. Now with back-to-back wins in bouldering at Innsbruck 2018 and Japan 2019, she cements her place at #1 in the IFSC World Rankings for women’s bouldering.
Such sustained dominance in a specific field i.e. women’s bouldering within sports climbing, may qualify an individual for an extraordinary ability visa, or EB-1 visa, which allows that individual to come to the United States as a legal permanent resident to continue working in their field of expertise.
